Emirates plane crash-lands with 300 aboard; 1 firefighter killed

An Emirates airline flight from India to Dubai crash-landed at Dubai’s main airport Wednesday, and all 300 people onboard survived, the airline said.

One firefighter was killed while responding to accident, the airline’s chairman and CEO said. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum also said 10 people were hospitalized after the incident at Dubai International Airport.

The 282 passengers and 18 crew members were safe and accounted for after the accident, Emirates said, while providing no details about what happened.

There were reports of wind shear, or sudden downdraft, at the airport as the aircraft made its descent, but it was unclear if that had any effect on what happened, the airline CEO later said. Read more below
