Jacklyn Zeman, known for her role as Nurse Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital, passed away on May 9 after a brief fight with cancer. She was 70 years old. Denise Alexander, who joined the show in 1973, four years before Zeman, mourned the loss of her close friend both on and off the screen.
Alexander released a heartfelt letter, saying, “Oh girl, I can’t stop crying because I keep hearing your voice and laughing. I have always loved and cherished your sweetness, humor, brilliance, and lovely goodness.” The letter was first made available by Soap Hub on May 15.
Anthony Geary, another cast member, commented on Zeman’s rare quality of never speaking ill of anyone, saying, “I’ve discovered this quality to be incredibly uncommon in a highly competitive industry.” Executive producer Frank Valentini called Zeman “a bright light and true professional.”
As condolences poured in, many remembered Zeman’s generous spirit and positive attitude. Laura Wright, who portrayed Zeman’s daughter on the show, said, “Jackie had the best stories to tell, a contagious spirit, and such a remarkable life.” Her legacy continues to be cherished by her General Hospital family.
