“These weren’t casual offenders,” a spokesperson for the Justice Department emphasized. “These were organized networks profiting from the exploitation of children on an industrial scale. The cruelty and sophistication of the material we uncovered shocked even seasoned investigators who have spent decades

in this field.”The operation was the result of a multi-year, multi-agency collaboration. The FBI’s Cyber Division worked in close partnership with Homeland Security Investigations, Europol, and law enforcement agencies in over 30 countries.
