Onana, Broja, Scamacca – Could West Ham be set for a hectic week in the transfer window?

While West Ham might have missed out on the chance to clinch back-to-back top-six finishes last season, the Hammers have only continued to gain a string of plaudits.

Reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League a few months ago, there is no doubt that the east London outfit have enjoyed a stellar rise under David Moyes during the past 24 months.

Already announcing the permanent arrivals of Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola since the summer transfer window opened up, it appears that West Ham are not done there.

Although it might seem that central defender Issa Diop might be on his way out of the club this summer, the Hammers could see a string of new additions arrive over the coming days.

In what looks set to be a hectic few weeks for Moyes’ men, we have taken a look at a few stars who are linked with a move to east London.

Amadou Onana – Lille

Although West Ham might have announced Downes’ arrival last week following the 23-year-old’s move from Championship outfit Swansea, Moyes is still on the search for another central midfield option.

Watching now-former skipper Mark Noble end his near two-decade stay at the club following the end of the 2021/22 campaign, it looks like Moyes has identified his number one target.

While the Hammers might have seen two separate bids rejected by Lille for midfield talisman Amadou Onana, Sky Sports announced over the weekend that West Ham have come back to the negotiating table for the third time.

With the 20-year-old becoming an immediate hit since arriving in France just 12 months ago from Hamburg for €7million, Onana also made his international debut for Belgium earlier in the year.

Making 11 starts for Lille while on Ligue 1 duties last season, Sky Sports are reporting that Moyes’ side have now come back with an improved offer thought to be around £32.3m plus add-ons.

Regarded to be one of the best budding midfield talents from across Europe, the arrival of Onana would certainly be quite the scoop for West Ham.

Armando Broja – Chelsea

Although Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen might have done a stellar job of spearheading West Ham’s charge last season, it is no secret that a new number nine is at the top of Moyes’ wishlist.

With Antonio remarkably the only legitimate striking option in Moyes’ ranks, the one-time Manchester United boss did come under some scrutiny back in January as he passed on the chance to bring in attacking reinforcements.

However, with their Conference League adventure soon to get underway, it appears that Moyes has made it clear who his number one target up top is this summer.

Really impressing while on a season-long long at Southampton last season, Armando Borja has only continued to gain a string of plaudits from across the Premier League.

While the Chelsea striker might have finally joined up with the Blues on their pre-season tour of America earlier in the week, the 20-year-old could soon be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have made a £30million bid for Broja, an offer they’re confident will be accepted by their London rivals.

Gianluca Scamacca – Sassuolo

Although it might have been widely suggested that Broja is Moyes’ number one target this summer, it appears that the Hammers are still pushing ahead with a shock move for one of Serie A’s brightest stars.

While it might have appeared earlier in the month that Gianluca Scamacca could be on his way to French giants PSG this summer, The Guardian announced that West Ham have opened talks with Sassuolo over what would be a blockbuster move.

Really bursting onto the scenes last season after recording 16 strikes in Italy’s top-flight, the 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a string of European heavyweights.

However, with it no secret that Sassuolo would be willing to part ways with their attacking talisman if they receive an acceptable offer, Chief executive Giovanni Carnevali announced on Thursday that Moyes’ side have already laid down their offer.

Suggesting that the Premier League outfit have offered €40million, an offer that is under serious consideration, there is no doubt that the potential arrival of Scamacca would be hugely exciting for fans around east London.
