Hurricane Milton is moving away from Florida

Milton struck land on Wednesday evening near Siesta Key, south of Tampa Bay, but it is now positioned approximately 75 miles east-northeast of Cape Canaveral,

off Florida’s Atlantic coast. While the rainfall is shifting offshore, strong and gusty winds persist along the Atlantic shoreline. This morning, wind gusts reached up to 92 mph in Marineland,

87 mph in Daytona Beach, and 76 mph at South Hutchinson Island.

As darkness descended, a powerful storm surged onto Florida’s Gulf Coast, bringing with it deadly tornadoes and severe flooding that left millions without power and devastated communities.
